ಏಳು ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆ ಪದಗಳು: ಏನು (what), ಯಾರು (who), ಎಲ್ಲಿ (where), ಯಾವಾಗ (when), ಹೇಗೆ (how), ಏಕೆ (why), ಎಷ್ಟು (how much).

Seven question words unlock most conversations: ಏನು what · ಯಾರು who · ಎಲ್ಲಿ where · ಯಾವಾಗ when · ಹೇಗೆ how · ಏಕೆ why · ಎಷ್ಟು how much/many. ಆಡುಮಾತು: in everyday speech you will hear ಯಾಕೆ for ಏಕೆ — both are fine.

ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆ ಪದ ವಾಕ್ಯದ ಒಳಗೇ ಇರುತ್ತದೆ — ವಾಕ್ಯದ ಕ್ರಮ ಬದಲಾಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. “ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮನೆ ಎಲ್ಲಿ?” — ಅಷ್ಟೇ.

Unlike English, the word order does not flip for questions. The question word simply sits where the answer would: ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮನೆ ಎಲ್ಲಿ? — “your house where?”. Answer: ನನ್ನ ಮನೆ ಮೈಸೂರಿನಲ್ಲಿ.
