 ರವಿ —  ಜೂನ್ ತಿಂಗಳಲ್ಲಿ — ಜೂನ್ ಹತ್ತು. 
In the month of June — June tenth.  
 ಲತಾ —  ಓಹ್, ಮುಂದಿನ ತಿಂಗಳು! ನನ್ನ ಹುಟ್ಟುಹಬ್ಬ ಡಿಸೆಂಬರ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ. 
Oh, next month! My birthday is in December.  
 ರವಿ —  ಈ ವರ್ಷ ನಿನಗೆ ಎಷ್ಟು ವರ್ಷ ಆಗುತ್ತದೆ? 
How old will you be this year?

ಆಧುನಿಕ ಕನ್ನಡದಲ್ಲಿ ತಿಂಗಳ ಹೆಸರು ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್‌ನಿಂದ ಬಂದಿವೆ: ಜನವರಿ, ಫೆಬ್ರವರಿ, ಮಾರ್ಚ್, ಏಪ್ರಿಲ್, ಮೇ, ಜೂನ್, ಜುಲೈ, ಆಗಸ್ಟ್, ಸೆಪ್ಟೆಂಬರ್, ಅಕ್ಟೋಬರ್, ನವೆಂಬರ್, ಡಿಸೆಂಬರ್.

Everyday modern Kannada uses the familiar calendar months: ಜನವರಿ, ಫೆಬ್ರವರಿ, ಮಾರ್ಚ್, ಏಪ್ರಿಲ್, ಮೇ, ಜೂನ್, ಜುಲೈ, ಆಗಸ್ಟ್, ಸೆಪ್ಟೆಂಬರ್, ಅಕ್ಟೋಬರ್, ನವೆಂಬರ್, ಡಿಸೆಂಬರ್. (The traditional lunar months — ಚೈತ್ರ, ವೈಶಾಖ… — appear for festivals; you will meet them later.)

ತಿಂಗಳು = month, ವರ್ಷ = year. “ಜೂನ್ ತಿಂಗಳಲ್ಲಿ” = in June. “ಮುಂದಿನ ತಿಂಗಳು” = next month; “ಕಳೆದ ವರ್ಷ” = last year; “ಈ ವರ್ಷ” = this year.

Useful frames: … ತಿಂಗಳಲ್ಲಿ “in the month of …”; ಈ this / ಮುಂದಿನ next / ಕಳೆದ last + ವಾರ-ತಿಂಗಳು-ವರ್ಷ: ಈ ವಾರ this week, ಮುಂದಿನ ತಿಂಗಳು next month, ಕಳೆದ ವರ್ಷ last year. Birthday questions: ನಿಮ್ಮ ಹುಟ್ಟುಹಬ್ಬ ಯಾವಾಗ? — answer with the month: ಜೂನ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ.

ಜನವರಿ, ಫೆಬ್ರವರಿ, ________ — ಮುಂದಿನ ತಿಂಗಳು ಯಾವುದು? January, February — which month comes next?

ಒಂದು ವಾರದಲ್ಲಿ ಏಳು ದಿನ; ಒಂದು ________ ಸುಮಾರು ಮೂವತ್ತು ದಿನ. A week has seven days; a MONTH has about thirty days.

ಜೋಡಿಸಿ. Match the time word.

ವಾಕ್ಯ ರಚಿಸಿ — “My birthday is in June.” Arrange the words.

ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮನೆಯವರ ಹುಟ್ಟುಹಬ್ಬ ಯಾವ ತಿಂಗಳಲ್ಲಿ? ಮೂರು ವಾಕ್ಯ ಹೇಳಿ. ಈ ತಿಂಗಳು ಯಾವುದು?

Say which month it is now (ಈ ತಿಂಗಳು …), then give three birthdays: ನನ್ನ ಹುಟ್ಟುಹಬ್ಬ … ತಿಂಗಳಲ್ಲಿ. ಅಮ್ಮನ ಹುಟ್ಟುಹಬ್ಬ … ತಿಂಗಳಲ್ಲಿ. Bonus: count the months aloud from ಜನವರಿ to ಡಿಸೆಂಬರ್.
