Read a newspaper page daily — formal style lives there. Move on to modern fiction: Śivarāma Kāranta, Māsti, Pūrṇacandra Tējasvi, with Sarvajña's tripadis and folk proverbs alongside. The peaks beyond are Old Kannada — Pampa, Ranna — and Kumāravyāsa's ṣaṭpadi; the grammar you now hold is the ladder to them.
