 ಲತಾ —  ಹೊರಗೆ ನೋಡು! ತುಂಬ ಮೋಡ ಇದೆ. 
Look outside! It is very cloudy.  
 ರವಿ —  ಹೌದು, ಈಗ ಮಳೆ ಬರುತ್ತದೆ. ಗಾಳಿಯೂ ಬೀಸುತ್ತದೆ. 
Yes, it is going to rain now. The wind is blowing too.  
 ಲತಾ —  ಮಳೆಗಾಲ ಶುರು! ನನಗೆ ಮಳೆ ತುಂಬ ಇಷ್ಟ. 
The rainy season begins! I love the rain.  
 ರವಿ —  ನನಗೆ ಚಳಿ ಆಗುತ್ತದೆ! ಬೇಸಿಗೆ ಚೆನ್ನ — ಬಿಸಿಲು ಇರುತ್ತದೆ. 
I feel cold! Summer is nice — it is sunny.  
 ಲತಾ —  ನೋಡು, ಮರದ ಮೇಲೆ ಒಂದು ಹಕ್ಕಿ ಹಾಡುತ್ತದೆ!

ವಿವರಣೆ · Explanation

ಹವಾಮಾನದ ವಾಕ್ಯಗಳು: “ಮಳೆ ಬರುತ್ತದೆ” (it rains), “ಬಿಸಿಲು ಇದೆ” (it is sunny), “ಚಳಿ ಇದೆ” (it is cold), “ಗಾಳಿ ಬೀಸುತ್ತದೆ” (wind blows).

Weather talk uses the neuter verbs you know: ಮಳೆ ಬರುತ್ತದೆ “rain comes” = it rains, ಬಿಸಿಲು ಇದೆ “there is sunshine”, ಚಳಿ ಇದೆ “there is cold”, ಗಾಳಿ ಬೀಸುತ್ತದೆ “wind blows”. To say YOU feel it: ನನಗೆ ಚಳಿ ಆಗುತ್ತದೆ “I feel cold”.

“ನನಗೆ ಮಳೆ ಇಷ್ಟ” = I like rain — “ನನಗೆ … ಇಷ್ಟ” ಎಂಬ ಸೂತ್ರ. ಕಾಲಗಳು: ಮಳೆಗಾಲ, ಚಳಿಗಾಲ, ಬೇಸಿಗೆ.

ನನಗೆ … ಇಷ್ಟ “I like …” is the same dative pattern as possession: ನನಗೆ ಮಳೆ ತುಂಬ ಇಷ್ಟ “I like rain a lot”. The three seasons: ಮಳೆಗಾಲ rainy season (a classic compound: ಮಳೆ + ಕಾಲ → ಮಳೆಗಾಲ), ಚಳಿಗಾಲ winter, ಬೇಸಿಗೆ summer.
