ಯಾರ ಜೊತೆ ಹೋಗುತ್ತೀರಿ? ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಯ ಹೆಸರಿಗೆ “ನ/ಯ” ಸೇರಿಸಿ, ಆಮೇಲೆ “ಜೊತೆ”: ಅಮ್ಮನ ಜೊತೆ, ರಾಮನ ಜೊತೆ, ಗೆಳತಿಯ ಜೊತೆ, ಅಜ್ಜಿಯ ಜೊತೆ. ಸರ್ವನಾಮಗಳ ಜೊತೆ: ನನ್ನ ಜೊತೆ, ನಿನ್ನ ಜೊತೆ, ಅವನ ಜೊತೆ, ಅವರ ಜೊತೆ.

ಜೊತೆ means ‘together with’. The person before it takes the possessive shape you already know from ನನ್ನ ಹೆಸರು: ಅಮ್ಮನ ಜೊತೆ (with Mom), ರಾಮನ ಜೊತೆ (with Rama), ಗೆಳತಿಯ ಜೊತೆ (with a girl friend), ನನ್ನ ಜೊತೆ (with me), ಅವರ ಜೊತೆ (with them). The next lessons explore this -a possessive fully.

“ಜೊತೆಗೆ” ಎಂದರೂ ಅದೇ ಅರ್ಥ — “ನನ್ನ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಬಾ”. “ಸಂಗಡ” ಎಂಬ ಹಳೆಯ ಸುಂದರ ಪದವೂ ಇದೆ: “ಅವರ ಸಂಗಡ ಹೋಗುತ್ತೇನೆ”. ಮೂರೂ ಸರಿ; “ಜೊತೆ” ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ.

ಜೊತೆಗೆ is an equally common variant: ನನ್ನ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಬಾ (come along with me). ಸಂಗಡ is an older, slightly literary word with the same meaning: ಅವರ ಸಂಗಡ ಹೋಗುತ್ತೇನೆ. All three work; ಜೊತೆ is what you'll hear most.
