“ಇಂದ” ಎರಡು ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡುತ್ತದೆ. ಒಂದು: ಎಲ್ಲಿಂದ? — ಮನೆಯಿಂದ, ಶಾಲೆಯಿಂದ, ಊರಿಂದ, ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನಿಂದ. ಎರಡು: ಯಾವ ವಾಹನದಿಂದ? — ಬಸ್ಸಿನಿಂದ, ರೈಲಿನಿಂದ.

-inda does double duty. It marks the starting point — ಮನೆಯಿಂದ (from home), ಊರಿಂದ (from the hometown), ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನಿಂದ (from Bengaluru) — and the vehicle: ಬಸ್ಸಿನಿಂದ (by bus), ರೈಲಿನಿಂದ (by train). The question word is ಎಲ್ಲಿಂದ? (from where?).
