ಎಲ್ಲಿ ಇದೆ? ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ “ಅಲ್ಲಿ” ಸೇರಿಸಿ. -ಎ, -ಇ ಅಂತ್ಯದ ಪದಗಳಿಗೆ “ಯ” ಬರುತ್ತದೆ: ಮನೆ → ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ, ಶಾಲೆ → ಶಾಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ, ಅಂಗಡಿ → ಅಂಗಡಿಯಲ್ಲಿ, ಕೈ → ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ.

To say where something is, add the locative -alli. After -e, -i (and ಕೈ-type words), the glue-sound ಯ್ appears: ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ (in the house), ಶಾಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ (at school), ಅಂಗಡಿಯಲ್ಲಿ (in the shop), ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ (in the hand). The question word is ಎಲ್ಲಿ? (where?).

“ಇರು” ಕ್ರಿಯಾಪದದ ರೂಪ ನೆನಪಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಿ: ನಾನು ಇದ್ದೇನೆ, ಅವನು ಇದ್ದಾನೆ, ಅವಳು ಇದ್ದಾಳೆ, ಅವರು ಇದ್ದಾರೆ, ಅದು ಇದೆ. “ಪುಸ್ತಕ ಮೇಜಿನ ಮೇಲೆ ಇದೆ” ಮುಂದೆ ಕಲಿಯುತ್ತೇವೆ — ಈಗ “…ಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇದೆ” ಸಾಕು.
