ಕಾಲದ ಪದಗಳಿಗೂ “ಅಲ್ಲಿ” ಬರುತ್ತದೆ: ವಾರದಲ್ಲಿ (ವಾರ + ದಲ್ಲಿ), ವರ್ಷದಲ್ಲಿ, ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ, ಮಳೆಗಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ, ಗಂಟೆಯಲ್ಲಿ, ತಿಂಗಳಲ್ಲಿ. “ವಾರದಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ದಿನ” = ಒಂದು ವಾರದ ಒಳಗೆ ಒಂದು ದಿನ.

Time words take the same locative: ವಾರದಲ್ಲಿ (in a week), ವರ್ಷದಲ್ಲಿ (in a year), ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ (in a day), ಮಳೆಗಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ (in the rainy season), ಒಂದು ಗಂಟೆಯಲ್ಲಿ (within an hour), ತಿಂಗಳಲ್ಲಿ (in a month). It covers both ‘X times per period’ and ‘within a period’.

ಆದರೆ ಕೆಲವು ಕಾಲದ ಪದಗಳು ಒಂಟಿಯಾಗಿ ನಿಲ್ಲುತ್ತವೆ: ಬೆಳಿಗ್ಗೆ, ಮಧ್ಯಾಹ್ನ, ಸಂಜೆ, ರಾತ್ರಿ, ಇಂದು, ನಾಳೆ. “ಬೆಳಿಗ್ಗೆ ಕಾಫಿ ಕುಡಿಯುತ್ತೇನೆ” — ಇಲ್ಲಿ “ಅಲ್ಲಿ” ಬೇಡ.

But the parts of the day usually stand alone, with no ending: ಬೆಳಿಗ್ಗೆ (in the morning), ಮಧ್ಯಾಹ್ನ (at noon), ಸಂಜೆ (in the evening), ರಾತ್ರಿ (at night), plus ಇಂದು (today), ನಾಳೆ (tomorrow). So: ಬೆಳಿಗ್ಗೆ ಕಾಫಿ ಕುಡಿಯುತ್ತೇನೆ — no -alli needed.
