ಕನ್ನಡದ ವಿಶೇಷ ರೀತಿ: ತಮ್ಮ ಕುಟುಂಬದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ “ನನ್ನ” ಅಲ್ಲ, “ನಮ್ಮ” ಎನ್ನುತ್ತಾರೆ — “ನಮ್ಮ ತಂದೆ”, “ನಮ್ಮ ಅಮ್ಮ”, “ನಮ್ಮ ಮನೆ”, “ನಮ್ಮ ಊರು”. ಕುಟುಂಬ ಎಲ್ಲರದು, ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ “ನಮ್ಮ”!

Here's a warm Kannada habit: for family, home, and hometown, speakers say ನಮ್ಮ (our) even when talking about themselves alone — ನಮ್ಮ ತಂದೆ (my father), ನಮ್ಮ ಮನೆ (my house), ನಮ್ಮ ಊರು (my hometown). The family belongs to everyone, so it's ‘our’. Likewise you ask ನಿಮ್ಮ ಊರು ಯಾವುದು?
